Family Re-Union 12: Families and Education

Mini Grant Winners Announced!

Congratulations to the recipients of the $10,000 mini grants! At the conclusion of Family Re-Union 12: Families and Education, participants were invited to attend an informational session and learn how to apply for one of five $10,000 mini grants to be awarded to help close the achievement gap. Seventeen grant applications were received and the following 5 were selected for funding.

 

Cowan Elementary School in Franklin , Tennessee proposes to improve reading and writing skills with the purchase of new reading materials.

Chuckey Elementary School in Chuckey , Tennessee proposes to institute an after school tutoring program to help low-achieving students with homework, reading and math skills.

DeKalb County Board of Education in Smithville, Tennessee proposes to improve reading and math skills for low achieving middle and high school students by instituting an after school academy.

Maury City Elementary School in Maury City, Tennessee proposes to increase parent and community involvement in the school.

Tennessee State University's Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement in Nashville , Tennessee proposes to work with Watkins Park Community to increase student access to technology.

 

We look forward to working with these schools and communities to close the achievement gap for their students.
