  • America Reads Challenge provides information on President Clinton's literacy initiative. This program is dedicated to ensuring that every student can read well and independently by the end of third grade. This homepage offers a summary of the America Reads Challenge, opportunities for parental and community participation in increasing the literacy of children, selected tutoring and parent involvement success stories, an overview of the involvement of the Federal Work Study Program in the America Reads Challenge, and information on the READY SET READ Early Childhood Learning Kit.

  • UEweb offers manuals, brief articles, annotated bibliographies, reviews and summaries of outstanding publications, and conference announcements in urban education This homepage also provides summaries, syntheses, and analyses of existing resources and access to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities homepage, other educational resources, and ERIC databases.
  • EdLinks contains an extensive list of links to general and commercial sites pertaining to education. The homepage was rewarded with a Top 5% rating by Point Communications and was approved by Clearinghouse.
  • Family Science Network through University of KY was created by the University of Kentucky Department of Family Studies. It contains links to resources on family organizations, marriage, family reading, family issues, and domestic violence. The homepage also offers access to sites for parents, women and mothers, and children.
  • The Merrow Report homepage highlights its quarterly PBS documentary series on children and education. This homepage offers video clips, transcripts, and viewer guides of their award-winning investigative reporting. In addition, the homepage provides highlights of their upcoming and previous documentaries.
  • Strong Families, Strong Schools: Building Community Partnerships for Learning was prepared by the ERIC Clearinghouse on Urban Education for the U.S. Department of Education and the National Parent Information Network. This homepage offers the links to chapters which address family involvement, school, family, and community partnerships, family-friendly businesses, state and family partnership programs, and federal policies and programs. In addition, this web site provides links to key research findings and additional ERIC abstracts.
  • The U.S. Department of Education contains extensive information on the Department of Education and education resources. This homepage includes funding opportunities, publications, programs, services, current legislation, the budget of the Department of Education, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) and Fact Sheets, guides to the Department of Education, and links to other on-line educational resources.
    • Partnership for Family Involvement in Education provides information on how family-school-community partnerships, including employers and their employees and religious organizations can help strengthen and improve children's education.
    • Community Update newsletter is an on-line version of a monthly newsletter which reaches parents, educators, and other community members involved in school improvement efforts. Features of the periodical include highlights of model programs, community recommendations, access to useful resources, summaries of research, highlights of and information on Satellite Town Meetings, and resources for families. The newsletter also includes on important news from the Secretary of Education and progress reports on Department initiatives.
    • National Center for Education Statistics offers comprehensive information on the education system. The homepage provides access to reports, data, and products released by the NCES. Data and surveys pertaining to elementary, secondary, and postsecondary institutions, longitudinal research, education assessment, libraries, international comparisons, and school districts are presented on this website. The homepage also offers answers to frequently asked questions, links to further statistical and educational information, and information on downloading files from the NCES homepage.
    • US Department of Education School to Work is an extensive resource on the School to Work Program (STW). It includes information on pertinent topics, key resources, and a search engine for Internet Gateway Topics. In addition, the homepage includes links to sites on the STW, statewide initiatives, resources, grants, technical assistance, research and evaluation activities, and conferences and meetings.
    • The National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education (NCPIE) website provides information on the NCPIE and recommends specific methods teachers, parents, administrators, and community leaders can employ to cooperatively strengthen school-parent relationships. In addition, the homepage details the organizations, board members, and special activities of the NCPIE.
